I bought this book last week (first week of October, 2010) and I think this book is okay for a person like me. What I mean by that is you have to know basic singing before reading this book. If not, you might not understand due to the terms and the demonstration.
I had been looking to buy this book for quite some time because it was written by a renouned opera singer. When I finally found it, though, I was sorely dissapointed. I feel that the writer talks in a condecending, demeaning tone and does not explain her pedigogical and physiological ideas on singing in a manner that is any bit comprehendable. I would recommend reading D.A. Clippinger or Richard Miller if you are wishing to understand how to sing, but I truly feel I wasted my money on this book and would not recommend it to anyone.
Book is in large font. But the images in the book are not in it. Maybe just received a bad copy.
It's a wonderful book for singers who like to improve their technique. All exercises are excellent and useful. I highly recommend for all singers to read it.
Paid the price of a new hardcover and the book definitely doesn’t look new. Scratches on the back and front as well as dirt on the pages. Obviously this has nothing to do with the contents of the book and will be able to read it just fine. However, it’s disappointing to pay almost $30 for a used book.
Everyone who enjoys the art of singing should have this resource in their repertoire
For me, it is worth reading - I won't go into the details as many other reviewers already did (thanks).- I love her diagrams/drawings, very helpful visualization to connect body and voice, etc. I am glad that I bought it. I highly recommend it for whole-hearted singing lovers.
